A wood fence is still the most popular choice around Guymon — privacy for the backyard, a clean look from US-54, and a price most budgets can handle. We build cedar and treated-pine fences in privacy, shadowbox, and picket styles, with steel or wood posts set deep in concrete.
Cedar resists rot and insects naturally and needs less maintenance, but costs more. Treated pine is budget-friendly and lasts well when sealed. Both work in the Panhandle if posts are set deep in concrete.
We set posts at least 30 inches deep in concrete — deeper than the minimum — because Panhandle wind loads and freeze-thaw cycles push shallow posts out of line.
A well-built cedar fence lasts 15-20 years; treated pine 10-15 years. Staining or sealing every 2-3 years extends life significantly in our dry, sunny climate.
